MAGNERS NORTHERN IRELAND
Magners North of Ireland Amateur Golf Championships
Magners supported the North of Ireland Amateur Golf Championship for the seventh successive year in July 2009. Magners continues to support the Golfing Union of Ireland through this sponsorship of the Championships, which is a particular high point in the golfing calendar in Northern Ireland.
This Golf Championship is the biggest major amateur championship in Ireland. Over 300 competitors take part in the five-day tournament at Royal Portrush Golf Club. The event attracts publicity from the launch, which normally takes place in April, through to the event itself, which creates golf coverage in the media throughout the championship week.
Gavan Morris, Marketing Manager, Magners offers a positive assessment:
“We are now into the seventh year of this extremely successful sponsorship. It has certainly delivered results in terms of raising the profile of the Magners brand in Northern Ireland. This competition has gained a deserved reputation as one of the best sporting events to be held in Northern Ireland. We regularly look forward to joining the large number of spectators who follow developments in a tough competition of a really high standard.”
Mr. Ivor McCandless, Chairman of the Golfing Union of Ireland (Ulster Branch) takes the sponsorship link forward:
“We are pleased that it has been possible to announce a further three year deal and we look forward to working together with Magners to build this already successful relationship to the benefit of many of our talented golfers.”
